I remember those days when i first started taking drinks. i still look back and say ,"what a time it was!''
I have these friend who would never end his day without drowning into some pecks of vodka or whisky. He was in my school when i was in class III or so .. i don't remember , his father got transferred and he got in to a new school . But when i joined higher sec.(XI) in a college ;that's how our system is.
These guy happens to be there in my same class though different section .He was my new neighbour as well.We began going college together sometimes by walking , by bicycles or by our father's vehicle. These is how we small town guys go to college b'coz we don't have signals to cross or traffic to wait for.
He was a avid drinker from than. I use to accompany him to railway tracks, paddies or college hostel for drinks and sometimes reach home late. My father's one decade old scooter who embarres us at times in front of good public do sometimes accompany us. I never drank more than two pecks at that time.May be i thought nice guys don't drink apart from the fact we take homemade beer called 'Apong' which everyone takes . so, here drinks i mean foreign liquors.
But after a passing XII with less expected results i was upset. I moved to a new place . I joined a new college without any certain aim.I made new friends with similar thoughts. we began enjoying our company .we started taking drinks. The experience ; awesome. We were young ,our hearts tender ,our sentiments pure........
And in other part of these world Angaraag 'papon' Mahanta was gaining popularity with his new sense of music. People began liking him. So, do we. His songs talks about the beauty of nature. It appeals our old Assamese culture and tradition and the language of humanity. we played his songs and enjoyed our drinks. It seemed his music begads our sentiments and melts our hearts.
we drank like hell and never seems to slow down ..... we laughed together ,we cried together...... :)
But these has to end ....
Everyone parted his ways after a year or so for a better career, so. did i.They moved to different colleges.I am here in Bhopal, but we still talk about those good times ...
I have slowed down after my body demanded .I occasionally drinks now but i still play his songs whenever i drink [ and not always when i drink ;) ... ] and i never seems to grow old listening his songs.....
"junake bichare ki, phaguni botahe huwonrai ki.... tumake ... tumake ...tumake...tumake.."
